Sector Support & Development


As part of the ACSA Workforce & Industry Development Unit, we provide information, training, mentoring and consultation in partnership with organisations to foster good practice and new possibilities in supporting better living for older people.

Our role is to work with the sector to support the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and services to embed models of better practice that focus on wellness, re-ablement, social connections, maintenance and development of positive relationships.

ACSA facilitates a range of initiatives with stakeholders and the sector to:

  • Drive ongoing improvement in care quality
  • Support Aged Service providers to meet their obligations
  • Enable the review and development of service models, in partnership with a range of agencies
  • Assist providers to develop positive ageing and strategies to ensure the right relationship between their workforce and the person.
  • Build the capacity of the Aged Services workforce to deliver quality services


In partnership with a range of agencies, ACSA provide sector support and resource development to help providers develop strategies that strengthen relationships between stakeholders. We support governments with their decision making and the industry to grow and change.

Through our Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), we are able to support a range of activities which develop and strengthen the home support service system, including workshops on Mental Health Awareness and the Older Person and the “Wellness & Reablement Roadmap” tool.


Better Practice Project

Based in South Australia, the Better Practice Project (BPP) supports the ongoing development of the Aged Care Services workforce by sharing effective approaches and strategies to assist older people to live full and valued lives in the community regardless of frailty or disability.

We have a range of interactive and resources available including the BPP handbooks.

As well as working with individual organisations who are seeking to strengthen their work practices to ensure better outcomes for the people they serve, BPP offers a range of workshops, covering a wide variety of relevant topics:
