This is a non-clinical workshop for Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) aged care community workers on supporting older people in their home, living with a mental illness and challenging behaviours.


The purpose of this workshop is to support CHSP providers to:

  • Increase the knowledge and awareness of aged care community workers about common mental health problems being experienced by older people in their home.
  • Identify the impact of mental illness on challenging behaviour.
  • Problem solve ‘case scenarios’ relevant to CHSP aged care community workers within a workable framework.
  • Be informed about how to support, respond and communicate with clients in distress.


Each participant receives a resource pack which includes a loaded USB containing fact sheets, a PDF copy of the training session and other helpful resources.

About the Presenter:

Robyn Miller is an independent training provider for 'Mental Health & Wellbeing Training Solutions' and has over 14 years’ experience in the mental health sector. Previously employed in education, training and peer roles in both government and non-government organisations, Robyn is a passionate trainer and advocate for positive mental health, and for recovery from mental illness.


Drawing from her own experience of mental illness in 2003, Robyn is able to provide a unique understanding and powerful insight into psychosis and depression, and through this aims to reduce the stigma often associated with mental illness. Her extensive experience in the government and non-government mental health sectors, and her lived experience provides ‘value added mental health training with a difference’ that is continually acknowledged through customer and trainee feedback.
