ACFI Update 1 September 2016

ACSA continues to campaign, and negotiate, on the proposed changes to ACFI.

01 Sep 2016

This update outlines ACSA’s strategy and actions on your behalf to get the best possible outcome on ACFI funding. We have a 1 to 2 month window on this issue to seek changes to the 1 January 2017 proposals.

ACSA is continuing political engagement on the impacts of any funding reductions and the specific proposed ACFI changes. We are meeting with Ken Wyatt the Assistant Minister for Health on 2 September. ACSA has previously met with The Hon Julie Collins, Shadow spokesperson, and her colleague Senator Helen Polley to discuss the ACFI.

Both Minister for Health the Hon Sussan Ley and the Shadow Minister for Ageing, The Hon Julie Collins are speaking at ACSA’s National Summit in Hobart next week, in which this issue will be raised.

ACSA is involved with the Departmental consultation on modelling and alternatives through the Aged Care Sector Committee. There has been one meeting to date with the next meeting to be held on 2 September.

While negotiation and discussions are occurring, ACSA is asking members to continue to meet with your local MPs and other key stakeholders. You should continue to raise your concerns with the proposed changes to the ACFI, and the overall savings in residential aged care, particularly the impact any change will have on the delivery of care for your residents.
