Crowley Care Ballina (NSW) wins Building Award

Crowley Care’s Stage 1 Redevelopment in Ballina has won the 2019 Master Builders Association of New South Wales Excellence in Building Awards for the Northern Regions.

20 Aug 2019

The award was entered by local builder Bennett Constructions for the Age Care and Independent Living Buildings $10-$20 million category.

Crowley Care CEO Michael Penhey said: “Our vision was to create buildings that enhance our residents’ lifestyle, maximise our river-side location, so everyone better experiences our site’s natural beauty and aspect.  Ballina has a high retirement cohort and this development supports our ageing population whilst improving the quality of life for our residents, families and staff. It has given us more living and social spaces for residents and a great working environment for our staff”.

The project saw the creation of new buildings and the redevelopment of existing buildings including: a new two-storey 42 room Residential Care Facility and two-storey education centre with library and meeting rooms; a new main entrance and  administration centre with community plaza that connects to a high-street style café; a redeveloped entertainment area in the existing Residential Care Facility and a new larger and welcoming non-denominational chapel that streams natural light.

The building award for Crowley followed the organisation winning ACSA’s 2019 NSW/ACT Regional, Rural and Remote Aged Care Provider of the Year.
