Employee Relations

The ACSA Employee Relations team understands that people are our members’ greatest asset. Our members deliver quality services to older Australians every day and are best placed to do so when their employees are managed well and performing optimally. The Employee Relations team provides advice and support across a range of human resources, industrial relations and WHS/workers compensation matters which impact our members. Our staff assist members in navigating often tricky staff situations which arise during the course of the everyday in aged care.

Our Employee Relations team is now based fully in-house at ACSA and is positioned to assist members in a range of employment-related matters including but not limited to:

•    Award, enterprise and employment legislation interpretation;
•    Performance management including counselling, discipline and termination;
•    Assistance with conciliation of unfair dismissal matters;
•    Liaison with union representatives;
•    Managing ill and injured workers;
•    Management of allegations of bullying and harassment;
•    Interpretation of national criminal record and professional registration checks;
•    Drafting and review of correspondence e.g. allegations letters, formal warnings, performance improvement plans, termination letters etc.; and
•    Consultation regarding workplace change.


Our team comprises our Employee Relations Manager, Anna-Maria Wade and an Employee Relations Advisor, Florentina Min. 
 

About Anna-Maria Wade, Employee Relations Manager

Anna-Maria has a diverse background with experience across multinational pharmaceutical manufacturing, recruitment and vocational education. Since 2010, Anna-Maria has worked in the NFP aged care sector: initially in an HR capacity for an ACSA member in rural NSW and more recently in Employee Relations with ACSA. Anna-Maria works closely with our members who are operating in challenging circumstances to better manage their greatest asset, their people, through advocacy, advice, education and support in the context of industrial relations, HR and WHS. Anna-Maria is also actively involved in industrial matters of national interest including the 4 yearly reviews of the modern awards utilised by aged and community care providers. 
 

About Florentina Min, Employee Relations Advisor

Florentina has experience on both sides of the industrial relationship, having worked for the CPSU and United Voice as an Organiser and Member Support Officer and as an HR Advisor for a provider of aged care, disability and retirement living services. Florentina understands the day to day people issues encountered in aged care settings and is experienced in assisting line managers with a range of human resource matters including performance management and disciplinary processes, investigations, work health and safety etc.
