Overview

 Developed with the CHSP Good Practice Guide and latest updates

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme promotes independence through physical and emotional wellbeing, social participation and access to the community. This is the wellness approach and it is key to the changes required of home support providers, workers and volunteers.

Participants will engage in discussions and activities to explore:

  • Ageing in today’s society
  • A wellness approach in the delivery of services
  • Models of care: Wellness, Active Ageing & Re-ablement
  • What are the Commonwealth and Services are trying to change?
  • Strategies for workers to use the current approaches

Expected Outcomes

  1. Understand the context in which the Commonwealth Home Support Programme has been created.
  2. Able to investigate a wellness approach
  3. Able to identify the elements of what living well means to improve overall wellness of the person
  4. Understand how wellness, active ageing and re-ablement approaches differ from traditional approaches
  5. Able to identify strategies that can assist workers in their roles supporting people in the community
