12 March 2022: Changes to Public Health Directions including mandatory boosters for residential aged care workers
The new Residential Aged Care Visitor Direction focuses on visitor obligations in residential aged care settings. From 31 March 2022, it will be mandatory for all workers in residential aged care to be 'up to date' with COVID vaccinations. Under the Workers in a Healthcare Setting (COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements) Direction (No. 4), 'Up to date' means, from 31 March 2022 a person who has received a COVID-19 vaccine booster dose during the period from 3 to 6 months after being fully vaccinated, and continues to receive booster doses within the recommended dosing interval.

10 March 2022: Dedicated Vaccination Hubs for care workers
The Department of Health has provided an updated list of dedicated vaccination hubs for the aged care workforce, as at 10 March. It is important that workers and providers understand that these hubs are time limited. If these hubs offer a more convenient option for getting booster vaccinations, please ensure you book appointments without delay.

2 March 2022: Support for flood-affected aged care providers 
A wide range of local and state government disaster support arrangements have been activated in response to the current flooding across Qld and NSW. These provide both immediate logistical/operational based support, as well assistance to help with the longer term impacts such as repairs and recovery.  Further information on emergency leave is available in a factsheet for residents and a factsheet for providers.

21 February 2022: Notifications in the Event of a COVID-19 Outbreak in a Residential Aged Care Facility and Deliveries of Antiviral Medication. From 28 February 2022, the Commonwealth Government will implement changes to the way that aged care providers report cases of COVID-19. Providers will be able to report de-identified data on cases of COVID-19 outbreaks or exposure at a residential aged care facility via a new, online COVID-19 Support Portal, which will be accessed via the My Aged Care provider portal. 24 January 2022: Direction updated: Isolation for Diagnosed Cases of COVID-19 and Management of Close Contacts Direction No. 4
The Isolation for Diagnosed Cases of COVID-19 and Management of Close Contacts (No. 4) has been published and includes changes impacting residential aged care facilities. The following information includes a brief overview of key changes, which came into effect from 8:00am 24 January 2022. This information is not exhaustive, and providers should carefully read the Direction to ensure compliance. Read more

21 January 2022: Interval for booster vaccine now three months
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced that, from Monday 24 January, the time between second doses and the vital booster will now be three months instead of four. Read more

19 January 2022: PPE escalation for certain areas
From 4pm, 19 January Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS) and the following local government areas have been determined by the Chief Health Officer to be in the 'high' risk category. All clinical settings, including residential aged care facilities, in the LGAs and Hospital and Health Services identified are to escalate PPE use to the ‘high’ risk category. 14 January 2022: PPE escalation for certain areas
From 4pm, 14 January the following local government areas have been determined by the Chief Health Officer to be in the 'high' risk category. All clinical settings, including residential aged care facilities, in the LGAs and Hospital and Health Services identified are to escalate PPE use to the 'high' risk category in accordance with the QLD Health PPE escalation guidance document.View high risk LGAs here

13 January 2022: Queensland's border changes
The Premier has announced that from 1am Saturday 15 January 2022, Queensland's domestic border restrictions are being lifted. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the changes were possible with Queensland expected to reach the 90 per cent double dose vaccination target around the end of next week. Read more
